Heirloom and heritage seeds have family stories that often accompany them. Sara Straate will share some of the stories and ways that the Seed Savers Network is working to save those stories and seeds.
Sara Straate is the Seed Historian for the Seeds Savers Network (SSN), located in Decorah, Iowa. SSN has over 20,000 seeds in its repository and a very active online seed exchange network. You can even buy seeds from their catalogs.
When our immigrant ancestors came to the United States, they may have brought special seeds with them. There have many documented examples of this, and many folks who have rural/agrarian ancestors also have seeds in their lineage.
Perhaps you have some heirloom or heritage seeds in your family? If so, you could donate seeds to them and share the family stories that are attached to them. Come and learn how!
