By Any Other Name tells the story of Melina Green, a modern playwright who submits her work under a pseudonym to escape gender bias, and Emilia Bassano, a 16th-century poet whose words may have shaped Shakespeare’s legacy. Through their intertwined narratives, the novel explores ambition, identity, and the silenced voices of women across centuries.
