Do you have Scottish ancestors? Over 8.4 million Americans report having Scottish heritage, and the actual number is likely much larger! Scott Norrick will explore the history and records.
This presentation will dive into the Scottish immigration waves to America. It will explore the various reasons immigrants left Scotland along with their settlement patterns within the United States. The migration waves will range from 17th century immigrants that were banished from Scotland and settled in New England, to the 18th century Scots-Irish immigrants that primarily settled in the Mid-Atlantic states and the Carolinas, to the 19th & 20th century immigrants who primarily settled in the larger and rapidly growing American cities.
The presentation will also discuss the cultural influences that those from Scotland brought to the expanding America. There were numerous Scottish immigrants that played a significant role in the development of America and the presentation will highlight some of the most interesting and prominent individuals.
Finally, the presentation will also highlight the top resources for researching your Scottish ancestors.
