Painting the American Revolution
Hybrid
Thursday, July 09
7:00pm - 8:30pm
Cook Park Library, Libertyville
Meeting RoomIf you have a painting of/by an ancestor, then you know how powerful the heirloom can be. Learn about the importance of the fine arts during the Revolution, and how they help define our nation today.
Learn about the founding of our country through the fine arts: paintings, poems, portraits, sculptures, music, and more.
Also, learn what "macaroni" really means in the song "Yankee Doodle". In fact, I'll bet you're singing that song right now for the first time in what, decades? Now that's what I call "PAINTING POWER".
Join Joel Farkas as he explores the founding of the United States through the eyes of the artist. This lecture looks at the American Revolution as seen through the eyes of the artists who chronicled the founding of our country. With over 100 slides to look at, this lecture will be “a feast for your eyes”, including explanations that will be “a feast for your brain”, and even a little singing that will be “a feast for your ears” (even if you can’t carry a tune).
This program is offered in partnership with Lake County Genealogical Society.
