This presentation highlights Montalbán's tireless efforts against prejudice, his own experiences with being stereotyped, and his founding of the arts education organization Nosotros.
Film and television fans remember actor Ricardo Montalbán for his many roles: dancing and singing in MGM movies of the 1940s and 1950s, as Khan in "Star Trek," as Mr. Roarke in "Fantasy Island" and as Grandpa Avellan in the "Spy Kids" movies.
Celebrate what would have been Montalbán's 100th birthday by learning about how his off-screen life was even more remarkable than his impressive Hollywood career in a virtual, multimedia presentation by College of Lake County sociology professors John Tenuto and Maria Jose Tenuto. The presentation highlights Montalbán's tireless efforts against prejudice, his own experiences with being stereotyped, his founding of the arts education organization Nosotros and his lifelong back pain and later disability. Using rare pictures and research conducted over 12 years, the presentation shares the amazing story of a genuine role model. Special thanks to director Nicholas Meyer and the family of Ricardo for special images and permissions.
